Melissa Birch

Melissa H. Birch is an associate professor of international business and executive director of the Institute of International and Global Engagement at the University of Kansas. She was a recipient of the KU Provost’s Award for Leadership in International Education in 2002. Appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Birch serves on the District Export Council and is chair of the Kansas International Trade Coordinating Committee. Before coming to KU, Birch taught at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia for more than ten years. She is the past president of the Business Association of Latin American Studies, a contributing editor for Brazil to the Handbook of Latin American Studies, and a member of the editorial board of the Latin American Business Review.
